Last minute gift with 1-800 Flowers

This holiday season seemed to zoom by faster than the German Autobahn. Always a busy time of year because in addition to celebrating Christmas, my calendar is packed with birthdays to remember. Pressed for time and a creative and unique way to help my mom mark her sixty-fourth year, I opted for a tree planting kit from 1-800 Flowers. Perusing the floral and gift selection provided wonderful ideas, many offering discounts that are a welcome opportunity in the season of shopping overindulgence. Many of the items were an even bigger bargain than I expected and ultimately my choice was satisfying.

Using 1-800 Flowers this time of year was particularly helpful in that it did not require yet another trip to a picked-over store following a round of parking lot rodeo. In fact, I was able to place my order with ease, while on my lunch break. Convenience is everything, in my book.

Another great feature of 1-800 Flowers is the availability of next-day delivery. As a true procrastinator, it was a treat to have my mom receive her gift on time, in spite of my lateness in choosing it. I never would have thought of sending a tree, and was thrilled to send something life-affirming and enduring. Perhaps the most fun part was that when I called to wish her a Happy Birthday, the box was waiting outside her door.

I love flowers and saving money...

Flowers arriving is one of the most lovely surprises that can happen in your day if you're someone who feels inspired by a splash of natural color and fragrance in your decor. For me, flowers are uplifting in a way comparable to music. A friend who practices Feng Shui has recommended fresh flowers in your entryway to welcome opportunity into your life.
Why not?

Whether you're a fan of roses, chrysanthemums or some of the colorful exotic varieties, in Victorian times, flowers were a means of communication of thoughts. Imagine not having this world wide ability of connecting with the ones you love at your fingertips? During the 19th Century reign of Queen Victoria, after whom a variety of English roses is named, pink roses were a message of friendship and the rich red variety suggested passionate love. White tulips were an offering of forgiveness, and if faithfulness was the intention of the suitor, violets were on the doorstep. Perhaps speaking to the 'uplifting' power of flowers, peonies were brought into a space to promote healing. The edible Nasturtium were believed to be a symbol of patriotism, and in fact are flowers with a high content of Vitamin C.

In our modern era, there are at least as many reasons to express yourself with a glorious bunch of the outdoors that may not be blooming this time of year in the region of the recipient . Even better when you can send your sentiment and save money. The 1800 Flowers coupon codes provide an excellent resource for beautiful communication that is equally appealing for your wallet.

Sak Narwal catches and releases

To say that Sak Narwal is an avid fisherman, would be an understatement. The leisure time of this successful entrepreneur and businessman takes him to the coastal waters of the Atlantic Seaboard, the western United States and around the world. He has travelled and enjoyed many scenic vistas as a sports fisherman.

Sak Narwal does not catch for his dinner table, he releases the fresh and salt-water fish back to their natural environment and is an observer of their feeding habits. He's discovered some of the most abundant shark fishing at the tip of the South Fork of Long Island, in Montauk. His enthusiasm for sight fishing, has prompted excursions to The Florida Keys in pursuit of tarpon and bonefish. He has cast his line in the famed Bristol Bay in Alaska, noted for its population of salmon. Sak's trips to the marshy waters of Louisiana have presented him with the challenge of catching the unyielding redfish. He has experienced the seasonal Delaware River migration of the shad population in New Jersey, and been on a quest for catfish in Florida's Apalachicola River.

Sak Narwal makes fishing a priority in his week, a passion he's nurtured since he was a child. A collector of fishing gear, Sak appreciates the relaxation and satisfaction of catching fish and identifies himself as an amateur ichthyologist.

1-800 Flowers saves the table

I'm a novice gardener...as green as the grasshopper in this pumpkin blossom I captured in my garden in September. The pumpkin vines grew long and magnificent, often made me wonder what sort of harvest would come forth from such a promising entity. To my disappointment, no pumpkins this season, but a good learning experience.

Perhaps the weather conditions were not ideal, or yard visitors helped themselves to the very tiny pumpkins that began to take shape. My hopes of a table centerpiece were dashed by the lack of garden abundance.

For my Halloween dinner party, I found a wonderful arrangement of flowers online, that just brought the beauty of autumn and the colors I've enjoyed in my garden to my dining room table. Among my guests this Saturday is the wife of one of my friends who is an interior designer, and I KNOW she'll be impressed with the arrangement.

Serendipitously, my mom's birthday is in two weeks, so a lovely bouquet of her favorite yellow roses are on their way to Florida.

And I didn't have to plant a seed or nurture a vine!
